Unique photos of Abdul Teyfuk

Among funds of Museum of the History of V.I. Vernadskiy Crimean Federal University there are original documents and materials which disclose the details of the biography of one of the heroes of the Soviet Union – Abdul Teyfuk. All these documents were donated to Tavrida National University in 2010 by Alime Ismailova who is a niece of Abdul Teyfuk. It happened after visiting the university by hero’s offsprings – son Yuriy Teyfukovich and grandson Temir.

These are unique documents: eight original letters from the war; an original of his death certificate from 4th May 1945 that was sent to Abdul Teyfuk’s mother; copies of his family photos and some images from the war, etc.

A participant of the World War II, a commander of the Second Rifle Battalion of 175th Gvardeyskiy Rifle Regiment of 58th Gvardeyskaya Rifle Division of 57th Army of Steppe Fronte, hero of the Soviet Union, Guards Major.

Was born on 24 December 1915 in the village Partenit in Yalta district in  Tavricheskaya county (nowadays this is a town in Alushta district in the Crimea Republic) in a family of the participant of the Russian-Japan War 1904-1905. By the origin – Crimean Tatar. Graduated 8-year-school in Partenit, in 1935 became a senior of Yalta Pedagogical College and in 1939 graduated the faculty of Crimean Tatar philology in Crimean State Pedagogical Institute named by M.V. Frunze. Since 1937 had been working as a teacher and a headteacher and also a school inspector in Alushta district.

He started his military service in November 1939. In October 1940 graduated Orlov Infantry School. In June 1941 Abdul Teyfuk started his participation in World War II. He was fighting as a member of West, Donskoy, South-West and Steppe Fronts. Throughout that year was seriously injured twice. Since the end of 1941 Guards Captain Abdul Teyfuk became a Commander of Rifle Batallion. In 1942 graduated from courses ” Vistrel” (Shoot). In December 1942 was seriously wounded for the third time. The same year became a member of the Communist Party.

Abdul Teyfuk took part in the struggle for the Dnipro as a Commander of the 2nd Rifle Battalion of 175th Gvardeyskiy Rifle Regiment of 58th Gvardeyskaya Rifle Division of the 57th Army of Steppe Fronte. On 26 September 1943 the battalion of Abdul Teyfuk forced Dnipro and took over one of the first staging grounds in the strip of Steppe Fronte nearby  Verhnedneprovsk city. Warriors had been holding those staging grounds for several days and allowing the main forces of the regiment to go there. After heavy fighting, their enemies had been damaged.

Abdul Teyfuk was granted the degree of the Hero of the Soviet Union on December 20, 1943. In the struggle for the Dnipro, he was heavily injured for the fourth time in October 1943. Abdul Teyfuk died on March 18, 1945, during the intelligence in the village Ober to the west of Grottkau city.

His family hadn’t been aware of Abdul Teyfuk’s destiny. The last letter from her husband Maria Stepanovna Kochkina (Kochina) took in February 1945 in which he told her about the title of the Guards Major. Only on 8th April 1945 the President of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR  Shvernik officially reported about her husband’s death.
