On the 2nd of October, the South Military District Court of Rostov-on-Don has passed the sentence to the civilian journalist, the blogger from Crimea Nariman Memedeminov. He was accused of public incitement of terrorist acts. The court awarded him 2 years and 6 months’ imprisonment. The defense is going to appeal against the sentence.

” We are going to appeal against the sentence, we believe that my defendant didn’t commit any crime. He didn’t approve of either the explosions or killings of people” – defender of Memedeminov Edem Semedlyaev said.

According to him, the court has changed an accusation and as a result, the sentence was commuted. Semedlyaev assumes that the Russian  Prosecutor’s Office can also appeal against such a sentence because of the prosecution that is demanding six years’ imprisonment.
