Crimean Tatar activist has received the prestigious award

A co-founder of “Crimea SOS” organization Tamila Tasheva was marked with the prestigious award by Sérgio Vieira de Mello in the nomination “Personality” on October 24 in Krakow. All the money Tasheva is going to donate to the charity fund “Bizim Balalar”. The activist informed about it on her Facebook page. 

“As for me, it isn’t my award and I have said about it at the ceremony. It is the award for thousands of people who still live in Crimea and continue its’ struggle”. Also, Tamila Tasheva said that those bonus money (10 thousand zlotych or $2,597) she wanted to give to “Bizim Balalar fund”. 

“Besides that, I’ve received 10,000 PLN and I want to contribute it to the fund called “Bizim Balalar” that every month transfers money to the families of political prisoners with a large number of children”, – she said. 

It should be mentioned that Sérgio Vieira de Mello (1948 – 2003) became the UN High Commissioner for human rights. In May 2003 Vieira de Mello became a Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations in Iraq. In August of the same year, he had been injured during the bombing after what he died. In recognition of his activities, the Sergio Vieira de Mello Foundation was established in Geneva.
